Susan Kroening

Susan is passionate about assisting leaders and organizations in creating and cultivating innovative leadership, high performing work cultures and leading-edge people management practices.

Working in 4 continents, with McKinsey and Company has given Susan a depth of experience. She has been exposed to a wide variety of organisational structures, responsibilities and dynamics which assists her in relating to people from a variety of backgrounds and roles.


Susan has 8 years coaching experience and over 20 years experience in leadership development, performance management, change management, team building, action learning programs and project management.  Susan’s business background also includes working at a Director level with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu where she was Senior HR Manager for Growth Solutions.

As a ‘Coach of Coaches’ Susan is a senior facilitator for Coach School WA who deliver an 18-day Coaching Diploma. With over 350 coaching hours solely doing LSI debriefs and maintaining her own private coaching practice for over 8 years, Susan is an ICF recognised coach.  Specialising in Executive Coaching – Susan also works with The Leadership Circle profile – a 360 tool measuring Leadership Competencies.

Typical coaching assignment range from topics as specific and diverse as: developing leadership skills, building a specific culture within an organization, increasing personal sales performance, introducing performance measurement tools, capability development and succession planning, resolving conflict, personal career planning, value clarification and managing teams.

As a coach, she is able to engage people, encouraging them to excel in uncertain and challenging environments.  Her coaching style is one of partnership – described as practical, insightful, appropriately challenging and compassionately confronting. She is willing to ask the provocative questions of her clients to bring out the key issues. She then supports her clients as she helps them design practical action plans to address the issues; offering tools, support and encouragement – assisting them to unleash their potential.

Susan’s coaching, working both with teams and individuals- focuses on the exploration and application of mindsets and behaviours drawing upon her extensive study in behavioural science, coaching, leadership and management processes, the neuro-cognitive field of NLP and Accelerated Learning, and cultural transformation.  Practical and Results oriented – Susan is able to identify underlying values, beliefs and behaviours that do not support individuals and teams in achieving their goals.  She then assists people as they focus on what does support and underpin successful individual and organisational performance.

Her coaching methodology includes the use of Ontological and NLP Frameworks, REBT (Rational Emotional Behavioural Therapy), work from the research around EQ (Emotional Intelligence and building emotional literacy) and working with values, spirit and personal meaning.

Coaching clients have included management to executive levels. Her clients come from state government, public sector, financial, educational, computer, construction, manufacturing and resources sectors including: Anglo Mines, Unisys, CSIRO, NAB, Water Corporation, Worley Parsons, Chevron, Westpac, Baulderstone-Hornibrook, Australia Post, Comcare, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), RAC, ChangeCorp and Woodside.

In multi-cultural settings, Susan has worked independently and through interpreters in corporate multicultural contexts in Korea, Taiwan, New Zealand and South Africa; where she worked with both executives and frontline teams in the manufacturing, banking and mining sectors in coaching and facilitation roles. Within Australia she has done work with the ILC – (Indigenous Land Corporation) and BIMA – (Brisbane Indigenous Media Association).
